Coiled Air Hose

If you have ever gotten a flat along side of the road you know why you should always be prepared with a small portable air compressor.  Unfortunately, if you don’t want to shove a normal air compressor hose in the trunk of your car.  So a good option is to pick up a good air compressor that is portable, and coiled air hose.

A coiled air hose is a hose that is made of a thinner, less durable material.  As seen in the photo above, it winds down to a coil.  When you pull on the end of the coiled air hose the length pulls out.  This allows you to fit upwards of 10-20 feet in a very compact space.

You will often find that a coiled air hose is included as standard equipment with many air compressors.  However, these included coiled air hoses are usually very cheap quality and will invariably end up failing if you use them very much.

When you pick up a coiled air hose, look for a very durable polyurethane based hose. Many manufacturers will guarantee that they will not tangle up, and that is always a good thing to look at.  Also, look at the operating pressure of the hoses, and make sure that the hose you select is within the range that you need in order for it to be useful to you.

These spring coiled air hoses were all the range just a few years ago.  However, these slinky appearing hoses had be the fatal flaw of tangling up very easily, or even failing when you put too much air pressure through the hose, or accidently stepped on it while it was in use.

Luckily, advancements and developments in the materials that manufacturers use in order to create a coiled air hose have changed a lot in recent years.  The original hoses would fail after just a couple of uses.  Another major problem would be that you would extend the hose, and it wouldn’t retract back in to its natural coiled state.

So regardless of why you’re looking to purchase a coiled air hose, one thing is for certain, do your research.  There is more involved than just a low price, so make sure you look at all the aspects, all the offerings, and compare everything.  Then, once you’ve made your decision, pick your color!

No, you didn’t read that wrong, one of the fun things about these hoses is that they come in a very wide variety of colors.  So, if you’re going to spend the money, you might as well enjoy yourself and pick out a model that is your favorite color.
